• Anchoring every degree in a Share Medical Care Foundation clinic placement
• Structuring the curriculum around four founding pillars: family, activity & global health, environment, and partnership
• Recruiting faculty who continue to practice while they teach
• Keeping tuition and pathways open to community health workers, not just traditional students
